is it worth it?
Yes, it was the ultimate spa day. A friend sent us an Instagram post featuring the largest wellness center in Europe, days before we arrived in Bucharest. After being undecided for months, that was our sign, and we bought tickets for the upcoming weekend. (Thanks, Robyn!)
The day before, we scrolled through pages of negative reviews from weekend visitors. There were complaints about overcrowding, lack of sunbeds, long lines for saunas, waiting more than an hour for food or drinks, and an overall miserable experience. Our booking was not only Saturday, but the last weekend of Sauna Fest 2024, the biggest festival of sauna shows in the world.
The day of our reservation, we arrived 3 minutes after Therme Bucharest opened. There were plenty of open seats and no lines for saunas, infrared beds, mineral pools, or pool bars. At 12:00pm larger groups began arriving, but it was still enjoyable. Around 2:00pm spa music was replaced by a DJ and it started getting crowded. We left around 3:00pm, pruned and very relaxed.
The information online was a bit confusing. There were 3 different areas: Galaxy, Palm, and Elysium, with different time blocks to choose from: 3 hours, 4.5 hours, or One Day Holiday. Galaxy was a water park and the only area children under 14 years old were allowed. The Palm area held the main pool with a bar, massage beds, mineral pools, outdoor areas (closed during our visit at the end of October), and included access to Galaxy. Elysium had saunas, infrared beds, mineral pool with a bar, and included access to Galaxy and Palm.
We booked a One Day Holiday to Elysium for about $40 USD per person, and created a MyTherme account for 10% off tickets. We brought our own flip flops, bathing suits, and towels, but they were available at the Therme Shop.
Have you visited Thermi Bucharest, was it worth it?
