is it worth it?

Yes, but the Groundhog Day celebration isn’t for everyone. It was chaos! At 3:00am buses began shuttling visitors to Gobbler’s Knob from various parking lots. There was a lot of confusion and the 1.5 mile trip took almost 30 minutes. At Gobbler’s Knob, the chaos continued with 1 hour lines for bathrooms and warming stations. 

The ceremony began at 7:20am and lasted about 40 minutes. It was difficult to see the inner circle through the crowd. After Phil made his prediction, people dispersed to buses going back to town or towards the inner circle hoping for a photo. Seeing the bus line, we walked nearly 2 miles from Gobbler’s Knob to town. Every restaurant had a line out of the door. We wandered through the vendors and chainsaw demonstrations in Barclay Square, but struggled to fill the remaining 2.5 hours until other activities we were interested in began. We could’ve searched for the Phantastic Phils or hiked the Gobbler’s Knob Trail, but it was 10°F so we began the drive back to Pittsburgh earlier than expected.
